About Biwa Lake C2C
Hello everyone, my name is Roberto and I moved from Italy to Tokyo, Japan, about 10 years ago. As many of you i started to fish as kid, and it's a passion that never left me. Here in my new home I developed a passion for bass fishing in a country known for its incredible choice and quality of fishing brands.
The more time I spent on the water. The more I thought about becoming a fishing guide for foreginer visiting Japan.
To prepare for this journey, I gained valuable experience with local guides on lakes such as Kawaguchi, Nojiri, Kasumigaura, Ashinoko, Hibara, and Biwa. While these experiences were enjoyable, I often faced challenges in communication and building relationships due to cultural and language differences with the hired guide. Find an english speaker fishing guide in Japan usually is quite a challenge!
This led me to think, "Why not give it a try?" I embraced the Japanese concept of "ikigai" which translates roughly to "purpose of living". In Western culture, this idea was then adapted to "what you're good at", "what the world needs", "what you love", and "what you can be paid for".
After thorough planning, completing courses, and obtaining certifications, I decided to move to Otsu, right on Biwa Lake, to become the first licensed foreign guide on the lake.
My services began in September 2024, welcoming anyone eager to experience bass fishing in Japan whether you’re a beginner or an experienced angler.
Let’s enjoy fishing together on Biwa Lake, home to the world record largemouth bass caught in 2009 by Manabu Kurita.
